This week's Springfield Emojis player of the week is Auburn's Destin Chance! He scroed 6 touchdowns (5 in the air and 1 on the ground) in Auburn's 56-35 win over rival North Mac. He threw for 485 yards in the game....whoa. Congrats Destin :) Text your friends this emoji and let em know!
Geoff Isringhausen was recently honored by the Abraham Lincoln Council Boy Scouts of America by receiving the Trailblazer Award for his community leadership and support of Scouting in Central Illinois. The annual awards dinner and auction has raised more than a quarter-million dollars to support the Abraham Lincoln Council since it's inception. SPFLD Emojis figured raising $250,000 warranted an emoji :)
Cameron Jones led Springfield High School to a 42-0 victory over the Southeast Spartans with 3 receiving touchdowns and one rushing TD. That performance was enough to make him the SPFLD Emojis Player of the Week! Lucas Rockford also threw 4 touchdowns in the game. Get it fellas!
Everyone is talking about the remake of the 1986 novel by Stephen King so Springfield Emojis decided to incorporate a little Abe into the image. Also, it's a bit of an interesting coincidence that Abraham Lincoln is on the one cent "penny" and the clown in IT is named Pennywise. Sweet dreams :)
A woman named Faye Lewis recently made a post on social media that showed the name tags she had used in all her previous jobs with the tag line "Always remember where you come from! #imnobetterthanthenext". She worked her way up from various jobs and continued to advance towards her goals. This post inspired people and ended up being shared on FB over 97,000 times and even making the national news after being picked up by Yahoo Beauty. She has been through a lot, but kept on working towards her goals. Congratulations from Springfield Emojis :) Keep it up :)
Sophmore Luke Lehnen put up some big numbers last week in Glenwood's 54-38 win over the Lanphier Lions. He threw for 470 yards and 6 touchdowns in the Titan victory. Looking forward to see what kind of stats come out of this week's Glenwood vs SHG game! Luke Lehnen, you're this week's SPFLD Emojis Player of the week!
Hurricane Irma caused devastation throughout the Caribbean and Florida all the way up through Atlanta. There have been 32 category 5 hurricanes to hit landfall since 1924. There have only been 4 in the last decade. Let's hope we don't see another one like this anytime soon. Pray for Florida and everyone affected.
Logan Palmer, 23 of Decatur was laid to rest today after giving his life for his country. His ship, the USS John McCain, was struck by a tanker and sunk with 10 sailors aboard. Rev. Mark Cooper summed up that day well:
“Perhaps you wish you could have been there with him as he breathed his last: with him to comfort and console him, with him to express your love and affection, with him to say goodbye,” Cooper told the hushed sanctuary.
“But this was not possible and, in this way, Logan's sacrifice is also your sacrifice. You have given a son, a brother, a grandson, a friend, to a grateful nation. That nation and its citizens owe you and Logan a debt of gratitude.”
SPFLD Emojis wanted to do an image to honor Logan so that people can continue to talk about him long after this day.
Anybody else sick of hearing about Kim Jong-un? Every other day is a new missile test and threat of nuclear war. Sure would be nice if ol Abraham Lincoln was around to drop a bow on this pant suit wearing weirdo dictator.
Congratulations to Rochester High School's Nic Baker for being named this week's Springfield Emojis player of the week 🏆 Nic threw for 5 touchdowns and ran for another in a 49-12 victory over Lanphier High School 🏉 This is Nic's second Player of the Week emoji...more to come?
